RentLedger is engineered with a strict local-first privacy architecture. You do not need to create an account, log in, or provide personal credentials to use this software.

1. Data Storage & Local IndexedDB

All data entered into RentLedger—including property addresses, tenant names, contact information, rent charges, payment history, and expense amounts—is stored exclusively within your web browser's local IndexedDB storage.

Zero property or financial data is ever uploaded, transmitted, or synchronized to any external server or cloud provider in this version.

2. International Privacy Standards

Because RentLedger does not collect, store, or process personal data on remote servers, we inherently minimize data protection risks under:

• United States: California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
• United Kingdom & European Union: UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and Data Protection Act 2018
• Canada: Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
• Australia: Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)
• New Zealand: Privacy Act 2020

3. Cookies & Analytics

We may display contextual advertisements or affiliate recommendations on public content pages to support hosting costs. Content pages may use standard web cookies to deliver relevant advertising. No advertising cookies are used inside the private app route (/app).

4. Your Data Ownership & Export Rights

You maintain 100% ownership of your records. You can download a complete backup of your entire portfolio at any time via Settings (.rentledger.json) or export your tax records into Excel (.xlsx).
